The Bravest Word in Leadership: "Help"

Most leaders think they must be the smartest person in the room. I’ve seen it repeatedly, leaders who insist on having a hand in every technical detail, convinced they are experts in everything.

The reality? They aren’t leading; they’re bottlenecking.

True leadership isn’t about "owning" every solution. It’s about Circle of Competence: knowing exactly where your genius ends and where someone else’s begins.

The Birth of SPARK

When I founded SPARK (Strategic Partners Aligning Real Knowledge) in Portland, I wasn't looking to build a brand. I was looking for alignment. I wanted to find solopreneurs who:

  • Value collaboration over competition.

  • Recognize that real impact requires more than one lens.

  • Check their ego at the door to put the client first.

 Moving Beyond the "Ego-System"

At SimplexityPM, this clarity defines how I serve. I am not a "generalist" trying to fake it. I am intentional about building a “wraparound” model for my clients. Sometimes I lead. Sometimes I bring in a partner. Sometimes I step back entirely so a specialist can elevate the outcome.

Why? Because the client deserves the best solution, not just the solution I can provide alone. When we choose an ecosystem over an "ego-system," the results change:

  1. Clients get holistic, customized solutions instead of transactional support.

  2. Consultants operate with integrity, backed by a trusted network.

  3. Organizations achieve sustainable change instead of quick fixes.

 Growing Across the PNW

What started as a small gathering in Portland is now expanding. Seeing our Seattle chapter take root via the Puget Sound PMI community (shoutout to Tricia Diamond) affirms one thing:

When leaders choose alignment over isolation, everyone wins.

Are you a PNW solopreneur who believes collaboration should be the standard? Let’s connect.

Are you an organization navigating growth or operational complexity? Let’s talk about how a strategic partnership rather than a single-lens consultant can help you succeed.

The best work happens when we build the right team around the right vision. Together.
